Damon is Stefan’s older brother, who he has falling out with because of their rivalry for the love of Katherine Pierce. He and Stefan hadn’t seen each other for 15 years because of their bitter relationship with each other. His return to Mystic Falls was the reason for the string of deaths occurring around town, he is a violent vampire and he still feeds on humans.

Damon decides to further wreck his brother’s life when he learned that he has found a new love in the form of Elena, who looks so much as Katherine. Later in the series, he learns that Katherine was never in love with him, which makes him turn around on his course of breaking Stefan and Elena’s relationship, and decides to help Stefan protect Elena.

Damon is played by the actor Ian Somerhalder. Ian was born on December 8, 1978 on Covington, Louisiana. He went to modeling career at an early age of 10, and decides to go into acting at the age of 17. He has won Choice TV Villain and Choice Male Hottie in Teen Choice Award in 2010. He also won People’s Choice Awards as Favorite TV Drama Actor in 2011.
