The Vampire Diaries is a supernatural television series which was developed by Kevin Williamson. The show is based on the book series written by L.J. Smith with the same title. The show revolves around the life of a girl falling in love with a vampire. The show premiered on September 10, 2009 on CBS Network.

The series follows the story of Elena Gilbert, portrayed by Nina Dobrev, falling in love with a vampire named Stefan Salvatore, portrayed by Paul Wesley. Eventually, they find their selves caught in a love triangle involving Stefan’s brother named Damon, portrayed by Ian Somerhalder. The two vampire brothers are also being hunted by their past life linking Katherine Pierce, also portrayed by Nina Dobrev. Other than the human-vampire love story, the show also revolves around the lives of Elena’s friends living in the fictional town of Mystic Falls in Virginia.

Mystic Falls is a fictional town where the show is set. The town is rich with supernatural history, including the part of the two century old vampire brothers.

The Vampire Diaries also stars Steven R. McQueen as Jeremy Gilbert, Sara Canning as Jenna Sommer, Katerina Graham as Bonnie Bennett, and Candice Accola as Caroline Forbes.
